Watch the video first!
I remember the time when I started driving in my 12th standard. I thought I was pretty good at it as my cousin (who is a fast driver and a really cool one at that) taught me. He took me to this really busy road and asked me to drive. I was scared but I happily obliged as I knew he would take care of things being the elder one. I can still feel the adrenaline rush I felt that day. So I learned how to manage my way out in Delhi traffic minus being rash (I filter what I don’t need). I was quite famous in my college being a “girl” and driving well. I don’t know when #likeagirl went from a great thing to a humiliation.
Driving #likeagirl to running #likeagirl is something made fun of. I see numerous status updates on social networking sites time and again on how a girl holds a steering wheel to how we go crazy when we go out shopping with all those “awwwwww” and “wowowww”. And i secretly love these kind of statuses, because i know they are true. We are good in everything we do. We are original, we don’t hide our excitement and happiness. And if someone pokes fun at me, then I just want to give them a hug because wait and watch!? Some people just need more love. Girls, next time if a person makes fun of you go and give them a big dinosaur hug.
When I saw this video, it just struck the right cord.
#likeagirl, do everything with the best of your ability. It’s not about equal rights, or some anger towards opposite sex. It’s just a wicked smile and a twinkle in the eye knowing that we know what we are capable of.
Let’s make #likeagirl a gift, being the best-est version of ourselves, a compassionate hug and love for everyone who believes otherwise. Let’s create history!
Happy Monday!
